Welcome!

Everyone has their own unique story. Here is a glimpse into mine.

My name is Niyiana Dixon. I was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN ( my accent may sound a little country to some but I still don’t think so). I graduated from the Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy, an all-girls STEM school, from 2013-2020 as an honors scholar. I was involved in extracurricular activities like National Beta Club, Robotics Club (Mechanical & Programmer), Student Body Government, SunTrust Youth Bank, and a lot of extras during high school.  I am currently a first year student at Agnes Scott College, with no declared major as of now; however, I am considering Computer Science or Political Science with a minor in Economics.

Attending an all-girls school constantly reminded me that women are powerful, smart, and beyond capable of bringing change to the world. This is the reason why I am attending Agnes Scott College. I understand that the mission at Agnes is to prepare women to become a global leader in whatever community they enter. Our world is constantly changing due to technology, and being able to connect with the world around me makes my purpose in life ten times clearer. I discovered coding late in my life, but when I did I learned that my engine runs off shaping my community in extraordinary ways. I was a part of Minority Girl Magic, the first ALL female team to compete in MAGIC’s Cybersecurity Competition. My plans after college with a computer science degree would be to become a software developer. I enjoy using software to make people’s vision of a website or app come to life. I also watch a lot of shows that revolve around bringing justice to the hearts of people that look like me. I believe there are not enough women of color in the judicial system, so I hope to contribute to global justice work in the United States by advocating for those that are wrongfully convicted after law school. When I am not focusing on coding or political rights, I am usually playing Fortnite, reading books, or finding new ways to organize my busy life . I strongly believe that using my leadership skills, my curiosity for knowledge, and my ability to work both independently and in a group will help me achieve my goals during college and after.
